Presented as part of Opera Parallèle’s 15th anniversary season, this production featured streamlined projections that vividly evoked Milk’s life in San Francisco’s Castro District and the iconic symbolism of closet doors. Projections were mapped directly onto swinging door panels to underscore themes of visibility and liberation, interwoven with archival documentary footage to heighten historical immediacy. The design amplified emotional pacing, from the intimate Kaddish reflections in Milk’s youth to the tense confrontations with Dan White, complementing Brian Staufenbiel’s fluid production and Jacquelyn Scott’s angular scenic design
