Out of Darkness

In this two-act opera, Jake Heggie and Gene Scheer convey the vastness of the Holocaust's scope through emotionally rich portraits of those caught in its grasp. The opera offers eloquent musical witness to survival in the face of unimaginable adversity. This was one of the most challenging pieces I've worked on as a projection designer, as a very delicate touch was needed to provide historical context without allowing explicit imagery from pulling us out of the human story told by the score and libretto.
