A world premiere by Tira Palmquist, The Body’s Midnight follows a married couple on a cross-country road trip as a troubling diagnosis begins to unsettle their memories, plans, and sense of place. The production was co-produced by Boston Court Pasadena and IAMA Theatre Company and directed by Jessica Kubzansky.
My projection design transformed Nicholas Ponting’s mesh-tree environment into a shifting landscape of American road-trip destinations, disappearing natural spaces, and Anne’s interior neurological world. The imagery moved between recognizable places - desert highways, ghost towns, canyons, forests - and more abstract visual states, allowing the same scenic surface to become both external landscape and the fragile architecture of memory.

“David Murakami and Sam Clevenger’s projections are, in their own regard, the stars of the show in the way they interact with the set in what is a beautiful mix between abstract shadows and conspicuous colors.” — LA Excites
